The public launch of Belonging Beyond Brown extended the project’s communications and visual identity into a fully immersive event environment. The launch event took place at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center at Morehouse College and was designed to transform the venue into a physical expression of the film’s story and brand.
Central to this activation was translating the film’s visual identity into environmental graphics and interactive elements. Large banners and flags featuring the project’s key art helped establish the space’s visual tone and introduced attendees to the project’s central themes upon arrival. Smaller branded items, including stickers featuring the jacket patches, served as keepsakes, allowing participants to carry pieces of the visual identity with them.
Merchandise items such as pens, water bottles, and tablets also incorporated the film’s branding, extending the visual system across multiple touchpoints and serving as practical tools that connected attendees to the project in everyday contexts.
Through this collaborative effort, the launch event created a living archive of community engagement with the project’s themes. It transformed the film’s ideas into a shared experience, bringing together history, storytelling, and creative expression in a way that reflected the broader mission of Belonging Beyond Brown: honoring the past while creating space for new narratives of belonging in education.
