Alongside the documentary, the team produced a companion featurette, “Inside Belonging Beyond Brown,” designed to extend the film’s conversation and deepen the call to action. Built as a standalone piece, it serves as both a recruitment tool and an entry point for new audiences, communities, and partners. Director Nina Gilbert shares the project’s vision alongside author and scholar Dr. Daniel Black. The conversation also includes perspectives from two students reflecting on belonging and learning, Dr. Terrance Mitchell (Associate Director of MCEE) discussing the ongoing work to prepare and support future Black educators, and Dr. Hideko Sera (Director of EIB at Morehouse College) offering institution-specific data on psychological and physical safety in discussions of belonging.
